Virtual DrugDoing so would be condoning crime … But this caught our attention so we had to put it. Incredible as science advances, yes. But more amazing is that advances in the directions. Is there a process known as binaural beats (something like tones to both ears), used to alter consciousness. This process was designed by one Heinrich Wilhelm Dove in 1839 and since then is believed to stimulate the brain, creating the most diverse effects on our perception. The method is based on play two sounds very similar.

The only difference between the two sounds are the frequencies, and that is supposed to create a state of altered perception. Why? The brain, the theory of Heinrich Wilhelm Dove, a similar phenomenon occurs internally. In conclusion, depending on the sounds and frequencies used in this method may produce different simulated states of perception. This is known as “synchronization of brain waves.” Those who study this phenomenon are mostly neuroscientists seek to investigate the sense of hearing. However, since there are those who managed to “synthesize” the binaural beats to recreate the effect of certain drugs. I-Doser is the first program of its kind that we know of. From the FAQ ‘s official website , reads: “Using scientific methods, proven and safe sync your brain waves, creating a state of stimulation through the use of our audio CD, or I-Doser our application, along with a pair of headphones of good quality. Effects of heroinThere are various forms of heroin use. Mainly this drug is used intravenously, nasally or through the respiratory tract. Injecting heroin is the most direct way to reach the brain. postheadericon Effects of heroin in the body

Effects of heroin In general, the drugs have very negative effects on our body. Recently, in our health blog, I had counted the effects of synthetic drugs. Well, on this occasion, we have focused on the effects of heroin in the body.

Heroin is a drug that is obtained through the morphine, which is derived, in turn, opium, so we can consider it as an opiate drug. Heroin usually appears as white powder. This drug can be smoked, injected or inhaled through the nose. The first symptoms are unpleasant, but over time the heroin causes discomfort, it gets worse.

If we focus on the effects of heroin produced in our bodies, these are directed to the brain. At no time consuming, reaches the brain, where it is converted to morphine and causes a series of pleasurable sensations and pleasant, quiet or euphoria. These feelings depend on the amount of heroin consumed, that is, if you take a lot of heroin, the intensity of these feelings will be higher. Read the rest of this entry »

Drug treatment

Drug treatment
In the case of drug overdose or poisoning generate critical in a person, is essential to implement an emergency treatment. Usually you have to help the respiratory system because there is often loss of consciousness, what it means to be temporarily connected to a ventilator. This shows that all drug treatment directly depends on the type of drug.

Detoxification means partial suspension of the drug that the addict is dependent, this happens under controlled conditions, often is given a similar drug to reduce the dangers of abstinence.

We can define rehabilitation as the next stage of detoxification. There are different therapies: individual, group or family. Typically these processes are prolonged for more than a month. There are also alternative treatments for those individuals who do not sympathize with hospital treatment.

Those who offered drug treatment in the past discouraged the use of antidepressant medication, argumentantazo it was not the right technique, that recourse was usually back to the substance. In short, we can say that the abuse of certain drugs stems from the need to self-treat mental illness.

It is worth mentioning that abuse and dependence on a chemical can be fatal. The recurrence after withdrawal leading to a new addition.

postheadericon Individuals Who Use Drugs Versus Individuals Who Do Not Use Drugs

Because addiction to drugs of abuse (drug addiction), is an extremely complex phenomenon, it is considered to be approached from different experimental approaches. This study will look for biomarkers of four types: (a) Psychological through questionnaires. (B) Behaviour, through practical tasks. (C) Physiological, using electrodermal responses of the skin. Y (d) Genetic, obtaining DNA samples and exploring the different varieties of a gene among individuals (gene polymorphisms). We believe that one of the most relevant parts of this study is the use of different perspectives and are able to study the interactions between them (psychological, behavioral, physiological and genetic).

Currently, more than 300 academics have made the psychological tests (questionnaires) and some of them are making behavioral and physiological tests, which are collecting DNA samples. It is estimated that in the month of May to carry out the sequencing of selected genes in search of variants that are associated with individuals who use drugs versus individuals who do not use drugs. Between June and July will analyze statistical data and presentation of results. Finally, between August and September will present the conclusions and final report, which details all relevant findings.

Among all tests, is expected to draw a profile that can predict with a certain degree of probability, the degree of addiction may develop a given individual. This will deploy new strategies to prevent drug consumption in the Community of Madrid.

This research has been awarded the X Prize Prevention Research in Drug Addiction Drug Enforcement Agency, in the category of basic research, research project mode.

postheadericon New Strategies to Prevent Drug Consumption

A group of researchers from the University Complutense of Madrid launches an investigation which hopes to extract some profiles that can predict with a certain degree of probability, the degree of addiction may develop a given individual. This will deploy new strategies to prevent drug consumption.
A biomarker is a characteristic that can be observed and measured, and in turn may be biological, behavioral or psychological. It may be a measure of a normal or a pathological process, for example, approximately 36% of Japanese, Koreans and Chinese have a genetic mutation that occurs when they consume alcohol facial flushing, nausea and palpitations. This makes the likelihood of developing alcoholism is much less or almost nil. Conversely, other mutations in other populations of individuals can make much faster processing of drugs in his body, causing an increase in consumption for the desired effect.

A research group that specializes in psychobiology, coordinated by Professor José Antonio López Moreno (School of Psychology), has launched a study to facilitate the identification of genetic markers associated with addictive and aggressive-impulsive in university (1 st, 2 nd course) in the Community of Madrid, to predict the use of major drugs of abuse.

For the study we have selected the four most frequent drug use and abuse in the Community of Madrid, and Spain and internationally. Alcohol and nicotine are the two legal drugs (excluding caffeine) that most often use the school population mainly because of its easy availability and which often are factors of social integration. On the other hand, cannabis and cocaine are illegal drugs most commonly used by youth and young adults. Consequently, we selected the four drugs that account for the bulk of addictive disorders. The field of study corresponds geographically to the Community of Madrid. University population has been selected by the Community of Madrid who are attending one of the first two years of university education.
