postheadericon Getting to Know the Different Types of Nursing Jobs

There are several types of nursing jobs, and among them are the RN (registered nurse), LPN (licensed practical nurse) and LVN (licensed vocational nurse). Being a registered nurse gives you more advantages because you have the privilege of monitoring the jobs done by LPNs, LVNs and assistant nurses. Assistant nurses are not real nurses in the first place. They deliver tasks that are assigned by RNs, LPNs and LVNs. If you have a certificate in assistance nursing, your role is to provide care and attention toward patient’s hygiene, psychosocial issue and related matters.

Full time nursing jobs are usually those that require you to be on duty for at least 40 hours per week. This doesn’t mean that you can take off days easily during weekends because you will be working on shifts. The places where you are required to perform forty hours of service are such as hospitals, medical offices and home nursing companies. If you choose to work as a part time nurse, usually you will be required to provide at least twenty hours of service in a week over a seven day period. The great thing is both full and part timers are qualified to earn salaries as well as additional benefits.

Perhaps contract nursing jobs might interest you as well. Working as a contract nurse gives you the time to evaluate your passion toward this field and thus you can always shift to a different career if you don’t feel this one is the most suitable for you.
